Dog Walking, Dog Training & Dog Socialisation in Chiswick

Chiswick House.

In order to have a happy, healthy, and well behaved dog it is critical you not only exercise and socialise them but give them the right kind of exercise, training and socialisation.

So where and how should you walk, exercise and Socialise your dog in Chiswick?

Dog Walking in Stamford Brook, Chiswick

Stamford Brook.

I am not a big fan of dog pens full of dogs as they breed behaviour problems. Hence our Chiswick Dog Walking service generally takes dogs out to the country parks. However for your extra afternoon walk on top of your big walk or as a place to bridge the gap between enclosed space and open park, Stamford Brook’s large enclosed area has a lot to offer. Just don’t stand around in a mele whilst groups of dogs are practicing bad behaviour instead try to, let you dog meet a dog or two and move on and then the next and move on.

Dog Walking Homefield Recreation Ground, Chiswick.

This is not completely enclosed but mostly and is bigger than Stamford Brook so its the next great step to having your dog off leash and free as they deserve on the country park walks. It is also not so densely populated so not so overwhelming for a dog who needs more of a gradual exposure to other dogs and distractions.

Dog Walking in Gunnersbury Park, Chiswick.

Gunnersbury Park

No pen, not enclosed but keeping on the move in big open space is vital for your dog so I love this park. Gradual exposure to environmental stimuli is also vital and this park is big enough for your dog to see things in the distance without being overwhelmingly close. Its also largely quite beautiful in places, with cafe stops if thats your vibe and suitable for your dog. Though don’t get put off by all the beauty, there is the house and a duck pond but its easy enough to keep well away from it into more open park land and sports fields. We therefore love to use this park for our 1hr group walk with a trainer or assistant trainer.

Dog Walking in Chiswick House Gardens.

Chiswick House II

When your dog is in a good space Chiswick House Gardens is a beautiful park for dog walking in Chiswick. However it is quite wooded and quite populated. The downside of this is lots of distractions and blind corners, so until your dog is in a calm good space and well trained this park is maybe not the best choice.

The Chiswick House Dog Show also takes place here each year, which once your dog is well socialised is a lovely day out. You can also come check out our stall or potentially even find me judging a class.

Country Park Walks for Dog’s in Chiswick

However the Country Parks have to be the best dog walk your dog. For these our trainers, pick up your dog from your Chiswick, Hammersmith or Shepherds Bush address and take them for 2 hrs of running around off leash with other good dogs in the rivers and fields of a country park before dropping them back in our crated air conditioned vans.

Dog Socialisation in Chiswick

It is critical your dog is gradually and positively exposed to the environment it is going to live in prior to sixteen weeks and then continued on to maturity around 1.5 years of age. Socialisation, however does not mean meet as many dogs and people as possible all at once and all on your puppies terms. That would be recipe for disaster.
