Sniffing increases serotonin, dopamine and oxytocin whilst reducing adrenalin, cortisol and Norepinephrine (the stress hormones) so its great for putting your dog to work and assisting addressing behaviour problems. I frequently recommend scent work to dogs with high states of arousal.
Scent detection training has been used for many years in working and operational settings around the world. Dogs are routinely trained to locate drugs, explosives, firearms, cash, contraband, missing people, and human remains. More recently, scent work has expanded beyond traditional service roles, with dogs now being trained for assistance and medical purposes. This includes alerting to conditions such as diabetes and epilepsy, as well as detecting disease-related odours, including certain types of cancer in humans.
Our Scent work is aimed at bringing your dogs arousal levels down while giving you and them a fun game to play.
